Discovering Casamance

Between tropical forests, tranquil mangroves and wild beaches, the Casamance region offers an exceptional natural setting for immersion and discovery.
Rich in animist traditions and shaped by Diola culture, it will charm you with its authenticity and the warmth of its people.

Our Excursions

Casamance is a land of striking diversity: tropical forests, mangroves, rice fields, bolongs and untamed beaches.
It is home to a rich variety of wildlife — colourful birds, monkeys, manatees, crocodiles — and iconic trees like baobabs, kapok trees, and sacred woods filled with symbolism and spirituality. Here, animist traditions are still very much alive.
Rituals and ceremonies shape daily life in Diola villages. Fetishes hold a central place in these communities, reflecting a deep bond between the people, nature and their ancestors. These beliefs are expressed through dance, song and ritual — inviting respect and protection for this unique environment. Beyond its natural and cultural richness, Casamance is known for the warmth and generosity of its people, always ready to share their skills, stories and way of life with visitors. Casamance is a land of authenticity, where every impluvium house, every pirogue, and every path tells a story. To discover this region is to immerse yourself in a world where nature, culture and tradition intertwine to offer a vibrant and unforgettable experience.

Whether for a day or several, our excursions let you explore the many faces of this rich and contrasting region.
By pirogue, on foot or by bike, you’ll cross the bolongs, visit islands and animist villages, discover local craftsmanship, and take time to live at nature’s rhythm. Whether you’re dolphin or manatee spotting, walking through the forest, discovering traditional crafts, meeting the King of Oussouye, or simply enjoying the beaches of Cap Skirring — every step is an authentic, friendly and adventure-filled immersion.

As with all our experiences, our programmes are indicative.
Feel free to contact us to design a bespoke itinerary, based on your schedule, your interests, and what the season allows in terms of pirogue travel.
